Interview with GOLFPUNK

When and how did you start playing golf?
I started only three years ago, but it is a sport that has always fascinated me. I watched it on TV when I could. It was my friends in Chervò who motivated me to give it a shot. I played in my first tournament at the golf club in Lana, South Tyrol, where I was a member for my first two years as a golfer.

What is your handicap?
At the moment my handicap is a 24 but I hope to steadily improve it in the next year.

Where do you play?
I play most of the time at the golf club in Kastelruth in the Alps of Siusi (BZ). It is a beautiful course near my house.

Which course do you prefer?
To be honest, it’s the course I just mentioned, because of the atmosphere. You cannot beat the beauty of the Dolomites. It is also a really challenging course to play.

What is your best memory of playing golf?
That would definitely be making my first PAR. What a very satisfying feeling…almost like my first podium in the World Cup!

What is your best memory connected to skiing?
That would certainly be of my first podium win in the World Cup at Wengen in Switzerland in 2006. That was on the legendary Lauberhorn, one of the most difficult and longest slopes in the World Cup.

What is the best joke ever played on you?
I am not really sure it was funny, but they did a good job. It was around the time of 9/11 and we were returning from Chile where we always trained in the summer. My friends from the national team put a knife in my hand luggage without me knowing. As you can imagine, when I arrived at security it was very difficult to explain that it was not mine and that I had no idea where it came from.

What is your favorite golf shot?
Iron 5 from the tee.


Which shot do you dislike most?
Every type of short shot.

What kind of car do you drive?
A beautiful blue electric A4 S line given by my sponsor, Audi.

How much time do you spend on golf?
It depends on my free time, but normally I play around 4 times a month.

What is your favorite movie?
The Matrix Trilogy is definitely a favourite.

What is your favorite dish?
Steak (Cotoletta) with mushrooms and rice.

What do you like to do most?
Taking walks in nature and observing the beautiful landscapes that surrounding me.

What do you really dislike?
I really hate spending too long in a car. I would rather use that time to improve myself on the golf course.

Who is your best friend in skiing?
I have many friends from all over the world …I love the variety and various characters.

What is your biggest dream?
That would have to be winning the Ski World Cup. Of course winning the Free or the SuperG would not be too bad either! But for now it is still a dream…but I always aim for the top so the dream may become reality. Let’s hope so!!
