Peter Fill has been seriously injured in Argentina
The Vice World Champion may fall out for longer period of time
On past Sunday the 26 year old Italian started to feel strong pains in the area of groin and lower abdomen after losing control over his skies during the training in Giant Slalom in Patagonia. The Ski Allrounder reported that his legs were sharply spread apart when a distinct crack was heard in his groin, which unsettled him.
After the first examination in a private clinic in Ushuaia the Silver Medal Winner of the Ski World Championship 2009 in Val d'Isere still hoped that it would not be so bad. After the pains had increased, however, Fill returned home immediately, to be examined this morning by the team doctor of the Italian ski federation.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) proved that the tendon of the Abdomen muscle adductor was torn and the tendon of the femoral muscle was damaged.
This is a very delicate injury which might result in a long compulsory break for Fill.
The Italian doctors' committee has decided to consult Finnish professor Sakari Orava, world’s leading expert in the area of tendon and muscle injuries. The doctor who has already operated on Kristian Ghedina will examine Peter Fill in the following days to figure out what the next steps should be.
Only then can be decided, how long will Peter Fill be absent and whether or not he can still compete in this year’s World Cup.
