Peter Fill: „Right now I don’t know if I will be competing in season 2009/2010“

The surgery was successful – the damaged tendons were fixed with 3 titanium anchors

Peter Fill underwent a surgery this morning in Turku (Finland), the surgery that lasted around 90 minutes was performed by a renowned tendon and muscle specialist Professor Sakari Orawa, who has repaired the ruptured tendons of adductors and abdominal muscles using titanium anchors. The accident happened during the ski training in Ushuaia (Argentina).

"It is the first time for me in the OR – explained Fill – and that is also why I am not very sad. In our sport the possibility of injuries must always be taken into account. I’ve been able to avoid injuries for 8 years, and there’s always a risk of something happening."

The Vice World Champion in SuperG is already thinking about the recovery plan: "I will return to Italy on Saturday and will have some rest. After that, together with doctors we will start to work on the recovery plan for the following months."

"Right now I don’t know if I will be competing in season 2009/2010; there is no definite information about such injury in our sport. But essentially I am quite confident about my recovery. I am young and I have a long career ahead of me.
